Slaughter is squarely in the up-and-down practice squad shuffle that defines life for a fringe cornerback: good enough to be the Steelers' first call when Joey Porter Jr. or Jamel Dean are banged up, not yet established enough to hold a 53-man spot on his own. His elevations have come mostly as depth corner and coverage-unit help rather than significant defensive snaps.
Strengths: Athletic depth cornerback whom Pittsburgh trusts enough to elevate repeatedly when its top corners are hurt.
Weaknesses: Has yet to earn a permanent 53-man roster spot and sits behind at least four cornerbacks on the depth chart.
