Bates is the back-end organizer of a secondary with enough talent to be aggressive. His communication and range give the corners freedom to challenge routes, and his presence matters more as the defense adjusts personnel week to week.
Strengths: Veteran leadership, safety range and defense-organizing value.
Weaknesses: Must carry a heavy communication load in a flexible, changing secondary.
