Taaffe is a young safety investment in a secondary undergoing a deliberate makeover. The first task is absorbing the coverage language and earning special-teams trust; that can create a faster route to defensive snaps than a pure depth-chart reading suggests.

Strengths: Draft investment, young safety upside and new-scheme development path.

Weaknesses: Rookie transition and depth-chart uncertainty.
