Heyward has prototypical linebacker size and was a productive four-year starter at Duke, but his NFL production with Cincinnati has been minimal so far. Miami's claim gives him a fresh shot to carve out a special-teams and depth role behind the Dolphins' starting linebackers.
Strengths: Good size at 6-foot-3, 238 pounds with a four-year starting résumé at Duke that included 11.5 career sacks.
Weaknesses: Just eight tackles across 18 NFL games to date shows he has not yet proven himself at the pro level.
