Kolar is the tone-setter of this tight-end room. He is not here to chase 80 catches; he is here to make the run game work, handle physical fronts and give the offense a credible in-line answer. With Gadsden and Njoku available as receivers, that specialized strength is especially useful.
Strengths: High-level run blocking, size, toughness and useful experience in a successful physical offense. He can give the Chargers a dependable in-line presence.
Weaknesses: His receiving résumé is limited, so defenses may view him as a run indicator if usage becomes too predictable. He needs to keep adding enough pass-game threat to make his blocking role harder to key.
