Alford is a valuable movable defensive back, not a slot-only player. His instincts and blitz value give Buffalo a little creativity without sacrificing coverage competitiveness.
Strengths: Slot-outside versatility, ball production, blitz ability, tackling and experience.
Weaknesses: Smaller frame can be targeted by bigger receivers, especially when moved outside.

Alford has earned every opportunity the hard way, and the 2025 production says he is more than a feel-good story. Thirteen breakups, three picks, six tackles for loss and two sacks are serious nickel impact. He plays with the urgency of a former CFL and undrafted player because that edge is part of his game. A seven is fair: he can disrupt underneath and blitz, but Buffalo still has to see how his smaller frame holds up in its coverage system.
Strengths: He is quick, competitive and productive around the football. Alford can cover inside, blitz off the edge and make plays in the backfield, while his recent turnover numbers show real anticipation rather than empty tackling volume.
Weaknesses: At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, he can be overpowered by large slot targets and blockers. A new defense can also expose any communication issues, so he must prove last year's breakout translates immediately.
