Drew Lock Scouting Report (3)
Replaced an injured Sam Darnold in the first quarter, completing 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and 1 TD to lead the comeback victory.
Lock should permanently retain the starting job over Darnold; Seattle's offense operates far more dynamically under his leadership.
Lock is valuable depth because he has seen real NFL starts and can still rip a drive into shape when he gets rhythm. The Tennessee preseason work was especially clean: quick completions, a touchdown and a key third-down scramble. That is the exact profile Seattle wants behind a contender's starter.
Strengths: Live arm, athletic movement and genuine starting experience. When he is decisive, he can attack vertically and extend a series with his legs rather than becoming a stationary checkdown-only option.
Weaknesses: His career volatility is why he belongs in a reserve role. The high-end flashes need to be matched by consistent placement and safer decisions if he is called on for more than a short relief appearance.
