Jaylen Waddle Scouting Report (4)
denver isn't using him all that well yet. leg thing seems fine now. speed is obviously there but 11 catches on 20 targets isn't enough from him. needs to be more involved.
Waddle gives Denver a different gear entirely. His speed commands coverage respect, but his route feel and sudden stopping power are what make him more than just a deep-ball decoy.
Strengths: Elite speed, route running, separation, yards after catch and proven high-volume production.
Weaknesses: Must quickly build game-speed timing with Nix in a new offense and can be disrupted by physical coverage.
Waddle gives Denver a different kind of problem-maker. His speed threatens the whole field, but he is not just a go-route player; he can turn short catches into real damage. Pairing that with Sutton should make Nix's reads friendlier. An eight fits a proven high-end talent. The important work is getting the timing, route language and target balance right in a new offense.
Strengths: He has game-breaking speed, high-end yards-after-catch ability and a proven history of handling heavy target volume. Waddle can threaten inside or outside and force defenses to respect every level of the field.
Weaknesses: He is adapting to a new quarterback and system, which can delay immediate chemistry. His lighter frame can be challenged by physical coverage, and Denver must avoid making his role too predictable on manufactured touches.
