Trubisky is a sensible QB2 for a young starter because he has started, won games and knows Daboll's world. He does not need to chase the spectacular play; he needs to keep the operation stable if Ward misses snaps. His camp tape has looked like a veteran's mix of sharp execution and the occasional reminder to protect the middle of the field.
Strengths: Real starting experience, mobility and preexisting familiarity with the offensive coordinator. He can run a practical game plan, use his legs and give a young quarterback a useful model for weekly preparation.
Weaknesses: His career has included inconsistency and avoidable turnovers, which showed up on an interception-heavy early camp day. He is best when he plays on time and accepts the easy completion instead of hunting a throw that is not there.
