Rattler has a live arm and enough playmaking confidence to make the QB2 job meaningful. His final preseason start was efficient and included a scoring run, which is exactly the kind of clean operation a backup needs to show. The target now is fewer loose moments with the ball.
Strengths: Quick-release talent, competitive temperament and the mobility to create a play when the pocket breaks down. He has been in this system long enough to give the Saints a familiar, capable second option.
Weaknesses: The consistency is still the question. His lost fumble in the opener is a reminder that aggressive playmaking must be paired with better risk control, especially in a backup role where every possession is magnified.
