Hudson is a steady emergency outlet. He caught 19 balls for 168 yards and two scores last year, which is almost exactly what he gave them the year before. He knows where to settle against zone and usually catches the ball when it comes his way. I have him at a five because that is useful depth, but the role has a clear ceiling. At 31 he is not suddenly becoming a dynamic seam runner, and he does not bring Sample's blocking value. With five tight ends on the roster, every snap he gets has to be earned through reliability.
Strengths: Hudson has dependable hands, a good feel for soft spots in zone and enough experience to enter a game without changing the passing menu. He has also shown he can contribute in the red zone on limited targets.
Weaknesses: He is an average blocker and lacks the burst to consistently separate from athletic coverage players. His production has settled into a small reserve role, and age leaves little developmental upside.
