Ja'Marr Chase Scouting Report (7)
still top 3 at the position imo. only 185 yds so far but 3 tds, and 9 for 98 and a score vs pittsburgh. wins at the catch point and after it, burrow just trusts him on everything. you can't really cover him.
Chase doesn't need monster yardage to wreck a defense anymore. His ability to turn a relatively quiet game into two touchdowns makes him arguably the league's most dangerous red-zone WR.
Chase is a 10. There is no need to get cute about it. He followed the Triple Crown with 125 catches, 1,412 yards and another first-team All-Pro selection, even with Burrow missing most of the season. Defenses can press him, double him, play off or force the ball underneath, and he still finds a way to take over. The scary part is how complete he has become. The deep speed and after-catch power were always obvious, but now he wins with pacing, leverage and option-route awareness too. Seven 100-yard games set another team record. He is already one of the best receivers of this era and is still only 26.
Strengths: Chase has explosive speed, rare strength after the catch, elite tracking and the route intelligence to beat every coverage family. He can win outside, in the slot, underneath or deep, and his chemistry with Burrow turns small leverage advantages into huge plays.
Weaknesses: There is no major on-field weakness. His aggressive style occasionally leads to a concentration drop or ball-security mistake, and defenses can temporarily reduce explosives with layered bracket coverage, but that usually just turns him into a high-volume chain mover.
Often looks like the best WR in football. Awesome connection with Joe Burrow, but would look elite with any quarterback.
