Van den Berg is an appealing late-round pick because he plays with effort and has enough athleticism to make a surprising play. He needs time, but the traits are obvious.
Strengths: Motor, movement skills, power potential, college production and a highly coachable mindset.
Weaknesses: Rookie technique and strength consistency remain works in progress against NFL interior blockers.

Van den Berg is a sixth-rounder with a more interesting résumé than the slot suggests. He was first-team All-ACC last year, made 11 tackles for loss and brings a rugby-style physical edge from his South African background. He is not a flashy pure rusher, but he plays with good vision and has already worked at several defensive positions. I have him at a six as a promising active-roster rookie who can earn rotational snaps by being dependable.
Strengths: His strength, competitiveness and varied athletic background show up in active hands and good awareness. Van den Berg can play a firm interior role, recognize the ball and make effort plays beyond his immediate gap.
Weaknesses: He has modest college sack production and must prove he can create NFL pressure without relying on effort. As a sixth-round rookie, he also needs to show he can anchor consistently against veteran guards.
