Kyle Monangai Scouting Report (4)
5.9 a carry, nice change of pace. 10 for 31 vs philly tho. bears have Swift but he's looking useful.
Monangai runs like a player who enjoys contact, which is infectious. He gives Chicago a tougher change of pace than Swift and has already shown that the role can grow beyond a complementary one.
Strengths: Contact balance, physical finish, vision, pass-protection mindset, ball security and proven workload capability.
Weaknesses: He lacks top-end breakaway speed and still needs to prove he can sustain starter-level efficiency over a full season.
Monangai was one of the steals of the 2025 draft. A seventh-round rookie gave the Bears 783 rushing yards at 4.6 a carry, never fumbled and dropped 176 on Cincinnati and 130 on Philadelphia. He runs like his compact frame is an advantage—low pads, quick decisions and very little wasted motion. I have him at an eight because that rookie year was genuinely excellent. The next test is expanding the passing-down work and proving defenses cannot squeeze the same interior formula in year two.
Strengths: His vision, contact balance and low center of gravity make him extremely efficient between the tackles. Monangai commits to the crease, finishes forward and showed enough burst for chunk runs without putting the ball in danger.
Weaknesses: He does not have elite long speed or a large receiving résumé, so obvious passing situations may still favor Swift. Greater workload will test whether his compact power holds up and whether he can create when blocking breaks down early.
