Jaylon Johnson Scouting Report (3)
Johnson is Chicago's cover-corner standard: patient at the line, physical through the catch point and comfortable shadowing serious assignments. A healthy full year puts him back in the league's top tier.
Strengths: Man coverage, ball skills, length, route recognition and high-end résumé.
Weaknesses: Core-muscle injury cut into his 2025 season, so sustained availability remains worth monitoring.
Johnson is the guy who lets a defense call aggressive things because he can live on an island. He is long, patient at the line and far more dangerous at the catch point than the early-career interception totals suggested. He has now turned that coverage quality into real takeaways and remains Chicago's top outside assignment. A nine fits: he is a premium corner, with only the ordinary caveat that the physical nature of his game has brought occasional injury interruptions.
Strengths: His press patience, route recognition, length and timing at the catch point are excellent. Johnson handles elite receivers without panicking, plays the run willingly and has developed into a reliable finisher on contested throws.
Weaknesses: The style is physical, so small injuries have periodically cost him time. He is not a reckless gambler for interceptions, which is good for coverage but can limit splash numbers when quarterbacks simply avoid him.
