Leonard is a competitive, athletic developmental quarterback who has already handled a lot of football. His college rushing résumé is real, and he gained a useful rookie-season introduction to NFL speed. He does not need to be the savior; he needs to keep becoming a dependable option if called upon.
Strengths: Mobility, toughness, experience in high-volume college offenses and a willingness to use his legs on designed or improvised plays. He has the leadership background of a multi-year college captain.
Weaknesses: The rookie passing production was uneven, and his NFL sample is still very small. He must improve timing and decision-making from the pocket before he can be trusted with a larger regular-season role.
