Bennett has done the important backup work: absorb the system, communicate cleanly and keep showing the staff he can run the operation without drama. He is closer to a real contingency plan than a developmental mystery, which matters behind a veteran starter.
Strengths: Comfort in the Rams structure, useful preseason experience and the trust to take high-volume practice reps. His feel for getting in and out of the huddle is specifically valuable in a detail-heavy offense.
Weaknesses: He still has to translate camp and preseason control into meaningful regular-season reliability. The current uncertainty over QB2 reflects that he and Simpson are both still being evaluated in different ways.
