Smith brings proven pass-rush gravitas to a Falcons front undergoing major change. Familiarity with Stefanski is a bonus, but the essential value is obvious: give the defense a veteran who can win rushes when the game gets tight.

Strengths: Three-time Pro Bowl résumé, pass-rush craft and coach familiarity.

Weaknesses: Workload management and fast integration into a new front are key.
