Brock Purdy Scouting Report (4)
9 tds, 1 pick and zero sacks lol. Shanahan's offense makes it easy but he's also really accurate and decisive. 3-0 and playing great. people will still say system qb but who cares.
Purdy will finish as a top-5 NFL QB this season and finally kill the "system QB" label.
Purdy just looks comfortable running this offense. He gets the ball out on time, throws guys open over the middle and usually gives his receivers a chance to keep running after the catch. He has also gotten better at moving around when the first look is covered without turning every play into backyard football. Throwing 20 touchdowns with a 100.5 rating in only nine games last season was impressive. The frustrating part was the 10 interceptions, because a few came from trusting a window that was already closing. I see him as a really good starter who can play at an elite level for stretches, but he needs to cut down those risky throws and stay on the field.
Strengths: Anticipation and timing remain the foundation of his game. Purdy is comfortable turning his back on play action, resetting quickly and delivering into intermediate windows, and his placement regularly gives receivers room after the catch. He also adds functional mobility: not as a run-first quarterback, but as a scrambler who can slide, reset and punish man coverage when lanes open.
Weaknesses: Turnover variance is still the concern. Purdy can trust the timing or leverage picture a beat too long and give underneath defenders a chance to close, which contributed to 10 interceptions in only nine 2025 regular-season games. Pressure that prevents him from setting his base can also pull his accuracy down, and the missed time in 2025 is part of the current evaluation.
