Willis is one of the more interesting rookies on this roster because the athletic fit is obvious. He moved well at the combine, started at both Kansas State and Washington and helped the Huskies cut their sack total in half last year. Now the 49ers are asking a college tackle to compete at left guard. I have him at a five until we see how he handles NFL power in a phone booth. His feet should work in the run game, but playing inside demands quicker hands, better anchor and cleaner communication than he has had to show before.
Strengths: Willis is a fluid 303-pound athlete with experience in multiple schemes and enough length to play more than one line position. His movement skills fit the outside-zone game, and 28 college starts give him a solid technical base.
Weaknesses: He is changing positions and has no professional snaps. NFL defensive tackles will test his anchor and hand placement immediately, while his missed 2021 season and modest bulk add some durability and power questions.
