Darnell Wright Scouting Report (3)
Wright is turning into a foundational tackle. His power changes the run game, and the confidence he plays with now is starting to match the physical talent Chicago drafted.
Strengths: Elite power, right-side run blocking, improving pass protection, durability and All-Pro-level upside.
Weaknesses: His next leap is turning impressive stretches into unbroken week-to-week consistency against elite edge rushers.
Wright has turned into the right-tackle anchor Chicago hoped it was drafting. He earned second-team All-Pro honors, helped cut the team sack total to 24 and got a deserved extension through 2031. The power is obvious—when he fits his hands, edge defenders go backward—but his movement at 325 pounds is what makes him special. I have him at a nine. He can still overset an inside counter and has missed one game in each of the last two years, but this is already elite tackle play.
Strengths: Wright combines massive play strength, quick feet and unusual recovery ability. He can erase power rushers, move defenders in the run game and handle wide alignments without constant help, giving the offense stability on the right edge.
Weaknesses: Aggressive sets occasionally open the inside door, and his technique can loosen when he trusts raw strength too much. Minor availability interruptions and a few counter losses are the only meaningful reasons he is not a 10.
