Thieneman is going to be one of the young defensive backs everyone knows by December.

Thieneman plays fast because he processes fast. Chicago drafted him to close space in a hurry, find the ball and bring some real violence without limiting him to one safety spot.

Strengths: Elite speed, instincts, versatility, college production and urgency to the ball.

Weaknesses: He is a rookie facing NFL route combinations and must prove his aggressive style stays controlled.

Thieneman is the rookie with the clearest path to becoming a difference-maker. He has already been an All-American, started 39 college games, produced real tackle volume and found the football at both Purdue and Oregon. Chicago did not take him 25th overall to sit quietly. I give him an eight as a high-end projection: he has the instincts, range and work rate to start quickly, but every rookie safety still has to survive NFL speed and communication.

Strengths: He is productive, instinctive and unusually experienced for a rookie. Thieneman diagnoses quickly, tackles well in space and has demonstrated coverage playmaking rather than simply cleaning up plays near the line.

Weaknesses: He has no NFL sample and will face far more complex route combinations and quarterback manipulation. A first-round role can expose any communication or over-pursuit mistake early, especially in a secondary learning new pieces.
