Martin showed a couple of flashes as a rookie, especially the seven-tackle Arizona game and his forced fumble against Carolina. That is still a tiny sample: seven games, no starts and 11 total tackles. I have him at a five because I remember the player who piled up 140 tackles and 16 tackles for loss at Oklahoma State, but he has to prove that speed holds up when NFL guards reach him. Staying healthy and becoming a dependable special-teams player are the first steps before he pushes for a larger defensive role.
Strengths: Martin plays fast, closes aggressively and has a history of creating backfield plays and turnovers. His compact build helps him change direction, and he showed as a rookie that he can knock the ball loose.
Weaknesses: He is undersized against NFL interior blockers and has a recent injury history. His rookie role was small, and he must improve block deconstruction and coverage discipline before earning regular defensive snaps.
