Gardner-Johnson plays safety like a provocation: loud, physical and always hunting a momentum swing. Buffalo wants that edge, as long as it stays disciplined and his lower body gets fully right.

Strengths: Ball production, versatility, aggression, playoff experience and infectious energy.

Weaknesses: Lower-body recovery and a history of playing close to the emotional line require management.

Gardner-Johnson brings attitude and real ball production. He has two six-interception seasons, a Super Bowl ring and enough confidence to change the temperature of a secondary. Buffalo did not sign him to be quiet. The caution is that 2025 involved three teams and camp brought an injury scare, so the fit has to settle. A seven is fair for a volatile but talented veteran who can make a defense more aggressive when healthy.

Strengths: He has proven interception instincts, coverage flexibility, tackling edge and playoff experience. Gardner-Johnson can energize a defense, disguise roles and make quarterbacks pay for hesitant throws.

Weaknesses: His emotional, aggressive style can lead to volatility or penalties, and the recent injury requires monitoring. Frequent team changes mean he must establish communication and consistency quickly in Buffalo.
