Cairo Santos Scouting Report (4)
4 for 5, 11 for 11 on extra points. steady vet, bears are 2-1. not flashy.
Santos is exactly the kicker a contender wants in a tense finish: calm, technically sound and unbothered by the moment. Chicago trusts him because he has earned it repeatedly.
Strengths: Accuracy, clutch performance, 50-yard range, veteran leadership and franchise-record consistency.
Weaknesses: His range is strong but not the absolute biggest in the league, so extreme-distance attempts remain a situational choice.
Santos remains one of the calmer parts of the Bears operation. He made 25 of 30 field goals last year and connected from 54, which is solid work in a home stadium that can be miserable for kickers. I have him at a seven because 83.3 percent is dependable, not dominant, and at 34 his leg is not the biggest in the league. Still, Chicago knows what it is getting: a veteran who understands the wind and usually handles the kicks he should make.
Strengths: His repeatable mechanics, composure and familiarity with Soldier Field are real advantages. Santos controls trajectory well in wind, has enough leg for the low-50s and rarely lets one miss disrupt the rest of a game.
Weaknesses: Five misses in 30 attempts lowered his 2025 efficiency, and his maximum range does not stretch game-management decisions like the league's strongest kickers. Age makes any further loss of leg strength worth monitoring.
