Towt is a genuine long-term experiment, and that is what makes him interesting. He has the body control, toughness and rebounding background teams covet from basketball converts, but football is completely new to him. Injury reserve means patience is even more important in year one.
Strengths: Exceptional size, rebounding instincts, durability from a high-volume basketball career and unusual athletic coordination for a 250-pound player. His willingness to attempt a new sport speaks to his competitiveness.
Weaknesses: He has never played organized football, so route technique, blocking mechanics, playbook processing and contact adaptation are all developmental projects. The current injured-reserve stint postpones the on-field learning he needs most.
