Colby gave the team more than anybody should expect from pick 249. He started six games as a rookie, played 13 overall and did not look overwhelmed after coming from a very physical Iowa program. I like him best at guard, where his size and run-blocking mentality show up, though his tackle experience is useful in an emergency. He is a six for me because there is already proof he can survive real NFL snaps. The next step is becoming steadier against quick interior rushers so he is more than a capable injury replacement.
Strengths: Colby is experienced, tough and position-flexible, with 50 college starts plus six more as an NFL rookie. He brings good size and a natural feel for creating movement in the run game.
Weaknesses: His pass sets can get stressed by quick counters and lateral movement, especially when isolated. He returned to a reserve role after his six starts, so he still needs to prove he can sustain starter-level play over a full season.
