Corliss Waitman Scouting Report (2)
Waitman looks like a pretty steady answer at punter. He averaged 45.5 yards for Pittsburgh last year, put 26 of his 62 punts inside the 20 and did not have one blocked. The leg is real—his career gross average is 47.7—but the 41.9 career net says the results have not always been quite as impressive as the distance. I have him at a six. He should be dependable and can flip the field, but he still has to prove he can consistently combine hang time, direction and distance at a high level.
Strengths: Waitman has legitimate NFL leg strength and enough experience to handle weather and pressure. His 26 punts inside the 20 in 2025 show useful placement, while zero blocks point to clean operation and dependable timing.
Weaknesses: His net average has generally been more ordinary than his raw distance, so coverage teams can give some of those yards back. He also had three touchbacks last season and has not yet shown the consistency of an elite directional punter.
