D'Andre Swift Scouting Report (4)
20 carries and 84 yds vs philly, he's the workhorse in chicago. steady and consistent, 3 tds already. bears are 2-1 so it's working.
Swift is a genuinely dangerous lead back when the Bears give him a crease. He sees space quickly, can turn a checkdown into a chunk play and fits Johnson's flexible run-game ideas beautifully.
Strengths: Explosive acceleration, receiving ability, open-field vision, proven production and scheme familiarity with Johnson.
Weaknesses: His smaller build makes workload balance important, and he has had occasional availability interruptions.
Swift finally gave Chicago the efficient rushing year everyone hoped for: 1,087 yards, 4.9 per carry and 10 total touchdowns. He is at his best when the line creates a clear read and he can explode through it, and his receiving background still makes linebackers uncomfortable. Monangai taking some of the dirty work seems to suit him. I have Swift at an eight. He is not a pile-moving back and has had availability issues before, but last season showed how dangerous he is in the right split workload.
Strengths: Swift has excellent acceleration, open-field change of direction and real receiving polish. He can run routes rather than merely catch checkdowns, threatens the edge on zone concepts and turns a clean crease into an explosive gain quickly.
Weaknesses: He can bounce away from interior traffic too early and does not consistently create through square contact. His career durability has been uneven, and a complementary power back remains useful for short-yardage and high-collision work.
