Dion Dawkins Scouting Report (3)
Dawkins is Buffalo's blind-side standard: athletic enough for space, powerful enough to finish and vocal enough to set the line's personality. He is more than a protector; he is a tone-setter.
Strengths: Pass protection, athleticism, strength, experience and leadership.
Weaknesses: Even elite tackles can be tested by speed-to-power counters, and his physical style makes workload management important.
Dawkins is still the adult in the room on Buffalo's offensive line. He has the power to set a firm edge, enough feet to survive quality rushers and the personality to make a line play with swagger. Five straight Pro Bowls are not nostalgia votes; he has been a high-level left tackle for a long time. A nine fits. The only thing to monitor is the workload on a veteran body, not whether he belongs at the center of this offense.
Strengths: He combines powerful run blocking, reliable pass sets and rare leadership for a tackle. Dawkins has a deep bank of starting experience and consistently handles the blind-side responsibility of protecting Josh Allen.
Weaknesses: At this stage, age and accumulated snaps are the practical concerns. Speed-to-power rushers can still challenge any big tackle, and Buffalo has to manage the normal late-career wear rather than expect every rep to look effortless.
