Grady Jarrett Scouting Report (3)
Jarrett is still a tone-setter inside. His leverage, effort and leadership make him valuable even when the sack total is not flashy.
Strengths: Veteran savvy, interior quickness, leverage, leadership, run disruption and proven career production.
Weaknesses: Age and recent knee management limit his margin for a heavy snap load.
Jarrett is not the same 27-year-old wrecking ball, but he is still a smart, tough interior player who raises the floor of the front. He had 39 tackles and eight quarterback hits in 14 games, then made plays in both playoff games. His hands, leverage and awareness remain excellent. I have him at a seven because age and a 1.5-sack season are real, but a 535-tackle veteran with his technique can still make life easier for everybody around him.
Strengths: Jarrett wins with leverage, hand usage and outstanding awareness against the run. He can split attention, recognize screens and draws, and bring valuable leadership and postseason composure to a young defensive line.
Weaknesses: Age has reduced the explosiveness that once made him a frequent sack finisher, and recent injuries require workload management. He can still disrupt, but no longer projects as an every-down double-team beater.
