Nik Bonitto Scouting Report (3)
Bonitto is a real game-wrecker now, not merely a fast edge prospect. His burst turns ordinary passing downs into panic, and he has learned to finish plays with strip-sack impact.
Strengths: Explosive first step, sack production, strip ability, bend and relentless pursuit.
Weaknesses: Can be targeted in the run game by bigger blockers and must keep rounding out every-down technique.
Bonitto is now a problem offenses have to solve before the snap. Fourteen sacks after a 13.5-sack All-Pro breakout says the first huge year was no fluke. He wins with burst, bend and the kind of strip awareness that changes games. A nine is earned. Denver can move him around, but opponents still know the protection plan starts with finding No. 15.
Strengths: He has elite first-step explosiveness, closing speed and proven ability to finish sacks and force turnovers. Bonitto creates game-breaking pressure while still improving as an every-down edge defender.
Weaknesses: Because he is such a high-value rusher, offenses will keep using chips and altered protections to slow him. He must stay disciplined against the run and avoid getting too far upfield when quarterbacks or backs can exploit space.
