Trapilo has already shown he belongs when healthy. The immediate story is recovery, but his rookie emergence makes him more than just a name on the depth chart.
Strengths: Massive frame, encouraging rookie starting tape, left-tackle upside and ability to handle a high-leverage role.
Weaknesses: A major knee injury clouds his 2026 availability and delays the development momentum he built as a rookie.

Trapilo's rookie year gave Chicago a useful glimpse of a future starter. He made six late starts at left tackle after playing both sides at Boston College, and the offense kept functioning through a difficult stretch. The playoff injury was unfortunate, but he was activated in August and is back in the left-tackle mix. I have him at a seven because the length, intelligence and early experience are exciting. He still has to keep his 6-foot-8 frame low enough against NFL speed and power.
Strengths: He has exceptional reach, experience at both tackle spots and a calm, controlled style in pass protection. Trapilo understands angles, rarely looks mentally overwhelmed and can engulf defenders once his hands land.
Weaknesses: His height creates natural leverage problems, and low rushers can threaten the corner or convert underneath him. The postseason injury interrupted his momentum, while six starts remain a small sample for projecting consistent blind-side play.
