Toth is the kind of veteran depth lineman a team appreciates when injuries start piling up. He dressed for every Eagles game last year and made four starts, so he is not walking in cold if called upon. The downside is that he has only six career starts and begins this season on injured reserve. I see a versatile emergency option, not someone San Francisco wants carrying a full-time job.
Strengths: His best value is flexibility and preparedness. Toth has enough length to cover tackle, experience working inside, and recent evidence that he can step into a lineup without the offense having to reinvent its protections.
Weaknesses: He has never established himself as a long-term starter, and his tall frame can make leverage against powerful interior defenders difficult. The current injured-reserve designation also removes immediate availability, which is the main thing a reserve lineman must provide.
