Ed Oliver Scouting Report (4)
2.5 tfl in 2 games, hip doesn't look like an issue anymore. bills are 3-0.
Oliver is the quick-twitch interior problem this defense can move around to create chaos. If he stays healthy, the scheme should let his first step become a weekly headache.
Strengths: Explosion, pass-rush disruption, motor, penetration and versatility.
Weaknesses: Recent injuries interrupted his 2025, and his shorter build can be tested by bigger double teams.
Oliver is still the interior player offenses have to account for first. His get-off is rare for a 287-pound tackle, and the 9.5-sack 2023 season showed what happens when he gets favorable one-on-ones. Recent injury time kept him from a totally clean 2025, but he returned for the playoffs and was back at offseason work. An eight fits a proven disruptive starter who changes protection plans whenever he is healthy.
Strengths: He has an elite first step, low leverage and the ability to shoot gaps before a guard can reset. Oliver creates pressure from inside, chases plays well and has enough strength to avoid being just a passing-down specialist.
Weaknesses: His lighter build can be stressed by dedicated double teams and downhill power runs. Recent injury interruptions mean workload management matters, and he can occasionally be displaced when forced to play static two-gap football.
